‘Summer of Rockets’ recap: What happened in Episode 3?
Summer of Rockets continued on BBC Two in the UK tonight.
Written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff (Dancing on the Edge, The Lost Prince), the BBC’s new six-part mini-series stars Keeley Hawes (The Durrells) and Toby Stephens (Lost In Space)
Set in the UK during the tumultuous summer of 1958, Summer Of Rockets follows Samuel Petrukhin, a Russian-born Jewish inventor and businessman, who specialises in manufacturing hearing aids. Following the Soviet’s launch the first intercontinental ballistic missile, and the start of the Space Race, fear permeates the lives of all.
Here’s a plot recap for the third episode, which aired at 9pm on Wednesday 5th June 2019:
Samuel (Toby Stephens) is tasked by Mr. Field (Mark Bonnar) to find out the names of the guests attending the Shaw’s latest party but they are unhappy with his lack of results.
Courtney (Gary Beadle) breaks it to Samuel that the company will be bankrupt if they don’t acquire more orders in the next few weeks.
Despite not wanting to be blackmailed, Samuel knows he must keep the order, so he returns to Mr. Field’s office to receive his next task: photographing guests at the Shaw’s upcoming fishing party.
Samuel and Miriam (Lucy Cohu) are furious when they receive an anonymous letter claiming that Hannah did not meet the Queen, and has been skipping many of the parties and balls.
Samuel and Courtney meet Denning (Leo Starr), Mr. Field, and Freddie Lawson (Fred Haig) at the airfield and agree to set up the staff locator. Meanwhile, Samuel reluctantly delivers his photos from the fishing trip.
