Agatha and the Midnight Murders

This drama stars Helen Baxendale and she plays Agatha Christie in this movie. It’s set in London in the year 1940 and it sees the story make the author kill off Hercule Poirot.  The blitz rages on and it would seem that her future is threatened. The reviews are very good for this drama and it would seem that it’s gained a lot of steam over the years. Agatha Christie has always been a classic, and it has made a huge impact on the entertainment industry as we know it. In fact, Christie has inspired numerous games, from Cluedo-inspired board games to Agatha Christie themed slots online, including Mystery Wilds and Murder on the Orient Express. You also have other games, including the ABC Murders and Evil under the Sun.

All Creatures Great and Small

This is based on the book by James Herriot. It’s a much-loved collection of stories and it would seem that this new series comes from the same creators that brought Downton Abbey to the big screen. You have Callum Woodhouse, Samuel West as well as Anna Madeley and Rachel Shenton. This is a very heart-warming story to say the least and it shows the adventurous tale of a young country vet in the 1930s.

Belgravia

This is written by the Downton Abbey creator, the famous Julian Fellowes. He has adapted this from his book so that a mini-series can be brought to ITV. It’s a New York Times bestseller and it tells the story of various secrets and scandals. This all happened amongst the upper echelon of London. The cast of Belgravia is led by Tamsin Greig and Harriet Walter. The reviews for this show were very good and it would seem that fans love it as well. If you are yet to see this show, then now is the time for you to change that.

Black Narcissus

This is a BBC One adaptation and it follows Sister Clodagh and the nuns who work at St Faiths. They travelled to Nepal, and they set up a branch of their own in the palace of Mopu. It stars Gemma Arterton and it also stars Diana Rigg as well. Gina Mckee who starred in the bodyguard also has a part. It takes place in the western colonial order. It’s a very good production and it does take itself seriously too.

Bridgerton

This series is from the makers that produced Grey’s Anatomy. This drama is based on the novels that have been made by Julia Quinn. It shows romanticism and it also shows scandal as well. It is a very quick-witted series, and it helps to celebrate the timelessness that comes with families and friends growing up with one another. This entertainment is great and it’s safe to say that it is very accurate as well. Nobody is going to mistake this for Austen but at the end of the day, that doesn’t really matter. Bridgerton is so great and it is the best show if you want to cheer yourself up after a long day.

Of course, there are so many period drama shows out there at the moment, but it would seem that these ones rank the highest. If you haven’t given any of them a watch yet, then now is the time for you to change that. You would be surprised at how fun the shows are and they have a lot of potential as well so if any new seasons or movies get brought out then make sure that you follow them.
