2021’s most popular British period drama movie revealed – as voted by you!
2021 was another brilliant year for fans of British historical and period drama movies.
Following the disruption to release schedules in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, a great selection of movies finally arrived in cinemas and on streaming services last year.
Highlights included Dan Stevens’ adaptation of Blithe Spirit, Clarice Cliff biopic The Colour Room, 1930s romance Mothering Sunday, Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, archaeology tale The Dig, Arthurian legend movie The Green Knight, Kingsman prequel The King’s Man, Ridley Scott medieval epic The Last Duel, 1840s adventure Edge of the World, WW2 thriller Six Minutes to Midnight, Roald Dahl drama To Olivia, and another quirky turn from Benedict Cumberbatch in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.
Set in the more recent times, we had Cold War drama The Courier, Disney’s Cruella, eerie horror Last Night in Soho, Princess Diana drama Spencer, golfing comedy The Phantom of the Open, ’60s romance The Last Letter from Your Love, and Jude Law’s The Nest.
