ITV has released a set of new promotional photos and behind the scenes pics for its upcoming Vanity Fair mini-series.

Based on English novelist William Makepeace Thackeray’s novel, the seven-part period drama stars Olivia Cooke (Ready Player OneBates Motel) as heroine Becky Sharp.

Vanity Fair began filming in Budapest, Hungary earlier this year and is made by the team behind War & Peace, Poldark and Victoria.

The cast also includes Johnny Flynn (Genius), Martin Clunes (Doc Martin), Frances de La Tour (The History Boys), Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster), Michael Palin (Monty Python), Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express), Charlie Rowe (Salvation), Claudia Jessie (Line of Duty), Simon Russell Beale (Spooks) and Claire Skinner (Outnumbered).

The official synopsis reads: “Gwyneth Hughes’ adaptation of Thackeray’s literary classic is set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, and follows Becky Sharp as she attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English Society. Her story of “villainy, crime, merriment, lovemaking, jilting, laughing, cheating, fighting and dancing”, takes her all the way to the court of King George IV, via the Battle of Waterloo, breaking hearts and losing fortunes as she goes.”

Vanity Fair will air in the UK this autumn on ITV and will premiere in the US as an Amazon Prime Exclusive.
