‘Bridgerton’: First look at ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ creator’s Netflix drama set in 1800s London
Netflix has released the first promotional photos for Bridgerton.
From the makers of Grey’s Anatomy, the new historical romance series is based on the bestselling novels by Julia Quinn.
Bridgerton is set in the world of Regency London high society in early 1800s England.
Netflix describes the show as “a romantic, scandalous, and quick-witted series that celebrates the timelessness of enduring friendships, families finding their way, and the search for a love that conquers all.”
Julia Quinn has written eight books in the Bridgerton series, published between 2000 and 2013.
Her novels have been translated into 29 different languages.
Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut in Regency London’s High Society.
Hoping to follow in her parents’ footsteps and find a true love match, Daphne’s prospects initially seem out of reach, especially when her brother rejects several suitors.
Daphne soon encounters the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) and despite proclaiming that they want nothing to do with each other, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly.
All eight episodes will premiere globally on Friday 25th December exclusively on Netflix.
The cast includes Adjoa Andoh (Doctor Who), Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch), Claudia Jessie (Line of Duty), Polly Walker (Rome), Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls), Sabrina Bartlett (Game of Thrones), Freddie Stroma (Harry Potter), and Ben Miller (Death in Paradise), plus the voice of Dame Julie Andrews.
Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels are available on Amazon.
