The next season of ‘Call the Midwife’ has already started filming!
The latest run of Call the Midwife only just ended, but the cast are already back in action!
Season 8 concluded in the UK earlier this month with the show’s 70th episode.
After the finale aired on BBC One, it was officially confirmed that the hit period drama series about a group of nurse midwives working in the East End of London will continue for another three seasons.
The makers of Call the Midwife certainly aren’t wasting any time, as the ninth season commenced filming in England this week.
The long shoot begins with 2019’s Christmas special, before moving on to eight brand new 60-minute episodes for broadcast in early 2020.
To celebrate the start of filming, the Call the Midwife team have posted a lovely photo of actress Ella Bruccoleri, who plays Sister Frances, with the clapperboard for the first scene of Season 9.
Season 8 will premiere in the USA later this month on Masterpiece on PBS.
