‘Downton Abbey’ star wants a crossover special with ‘Peaky Blinders’

We’ll file this one under ‘never going to happen’, but it’s still fun to imagine!

Allen Leech has revealed that he wants the worlds of Downton Abbey and Peaky Blinders to meet in a crossover.

The 38-year-old star played Tom Branson in all 52 episodes of ITV’s period drama series and recently reprised the role in the hit Downton movie.

Taking part in a video Q&A for IMDB with co-star Michelle Dockery on Twitter, Leech was asked who would’ve been his dream guest star on Downton Abbey.

The Irish actor responded: “I would love to have a crossover to shows that are going and we could get Cillian Murphy in with Peaky Blinders and it’s just basically a massacre.”

Peaky Blinders is the BBC’s period drama series about a crime family in Birmingham, England in the 1920s.

Leech expanded his plan: “[Cillian Murphy] just rocks up, old-school, like he’s now back on the horse. And he just comes in and Lord Grantham owes him serious [money]. And he just kills everyone! Until he then is killed by Maggie [Smith].”

He joked: “It’s like the Red Wedding [from Game of Thrones] of those two shows.”

Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary in Downton, fortunately had a slightly less violent crossover idea.

She suggested: “Mine would be a bit of a mash-mash of Mad Men and Downton Abbey.”

The pair also revealed the most recent TV shows they’ve binge-watched.

Dockery has been watching HBO’s comedy series Succession.

Leech answered: “I did Barry on HBO, which is just brilliant, Bill Hader is amazing.”

The Downton team are already hard at work planning a sequel following the huge success of the first film in cinemas.

The sixth season of Peaky Blinders is set to begin filming later this year.

The Downton Abbey movie is available on DVD on Amazon.
