Finally we know what the Royal Family really think of ‘The Crown’

The Crown has won numerous awards since it debuted on Netflix in 2016 – but what’s the Royal Family’s opinion of it?

The series tells the story of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, played by Wolf Hall actress Claire Foy, alongside former Doctor Who star Matt Smith as Prince Philip.

At last, fans now know what the Royal Family themselves think of the show – well, one of them at least…

One of the Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, recently revealed at the China Exchange in London that she’s a fan of The Crown.

She commented: “It is filmed beautifully. The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can’t speak for everyone but that’s how I felt when I watched it.”

Season 2 launched on Netflix last month and creator/writer Peter Morgan has plans for The Crown to run for a total of 60 episodes.

However, Broadchurch star Olivia Colman will be taking over from Wolf Hall actress Claire Foy as Elizabeth in the third and fourth seasons.
