‘Grantchester’ Season 5 begins filming this summer
The fifth season of Grantchester starts shooting soon in Cambridgeshire, England.
Based on James Runcie’s novels, the 1950s period drama series launched in 2014.
The fourth season premiered earlier this year, introducing Outlander actor Tom Brittney as DI Geordie Keating’s new crime-solving partner, clergyman Will Davenport, following the departure of original star James Norton.
It was officially announced last week that Grantchester will return in 2020 for a fifth season.
Season 5 will pick up in 1957; a year after the events of Season 4’s finale.
This is the year Prime Minister Harold Macmillan told the British people that they had ‘never had it so good.’
ITV’s press release hints: “For many of the residents of Grantchester, it really will feel like they’re in a delightful new Eden, but for all the talk of paradise on earth and faith-in-action, Geordie Keating knows that trouble is never far away.”
Alongside returning cast members Robson Green and Tom Brittney, co-stars Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones and Kacey Ainsworth are also expected to reprise their roles.
Grantchester is now shown in 176 countries around the world!
Season 4 is currently airing in the USA at 9/8c on Sunday nights on Masterpiece on PBS.
The fourth season of Grantchester is available on DVD on Amazon.
