Hugh Bonneville reveals how he’s passing the time during lockdown
Downton star Hugh Bonneville has provided some tips on things to do while stuck at home.
The UK is currently in its fourth week of lockdown as the global coronavirus pandemic continues.
The 56-year-old English actor is best known for playing Sir Robert Crawley in all six seasons of Downton Abbey and last year’s hit movie.
Speaking to ITN News, Bonneville commented: “As the days at home have turned into weeks, and might possible become months, I thought I’d share with you some top tips on how on how to pass the time.”
He suggested: “Why not shave your head, because let’s face it you’re not going to a barber anytime soon!”
The Paddington star then lifted his hat to reveal he’s taken his own hair care advice!
He continued: “Next, why don’t you take up some of those unfinished projects, for instance, I’ve got this overcoat. I’m very fond of it, but it has always had a button missing.
“I’ve finally tracked down a button and I’m going to sew it on…”
Bonneville revealed next: “…but the thing I am most excited about is this tapestry. I started it sometime ago when my wife’s sister got engaged, I thought that it would make a lovely wedding present.
“As you can see I finished about 70 or 80% of it. Unfortunately my sister-in-law and her husband are about to celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary. I think it’s about time I finished it.”
He signed off: “This is Hugh Bonneville, ITN, on the road from procrastination to action. West Sussex.”
The worldwide crisis has caused filming to be halted on a number of British period drama projects, including next year’s season of Call the Midwife, the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, and the next Fantastic Beasts film.
Hugh Bonneville is expected to return as Sir Robert in the second Downton movie, which is set to arrive in cinemas in 2022.
He recently revealed that he “couldn’t be more proud” of the Downton Abbey costume designers who have been making additional medical scrubs for UK hospitals.
The Downton Abbey movie is available on DVD on Amazon.
