ITV finally confirms UK return date for ‘Victoria’: Watch the Season 3 trailer!

Victoria fans in the UK don’t have too much longer to wait for the show’s latest season.

Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) and Tom Hughes (The Game) are back as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in eight brand new episodes.

Controversially, the third season of ITV’s hit period drama series has already been shown in America on Masterpiece on PBS.

The first episode of Season 3, titled ‘Uneasy Lies The Head That Wears The Crown’, will premiere in the UK at 9pm on Sunday 24th March on ITV.

The official synopsis for Season 3 reads: “With monarchies tumbling across Europe, Victoria and Albert must confront what it means to rule in this new era. Constitutional crises, scandals at court, and a decade of marriage mean Victoria is tested like never before; as mother, wife, and Queen.”

New cast members this year will include Laurence Fox (Lewis) as Foreign Secretary Lord Palmerston, John Sessions (The Loch) as Prime Minister John Russell and Kate Fleetwood (Harlots) as Victoria’s mysterious sister, Feodora.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo recently explained why Season 3 aired in the USA before the UK.

Discussing the delay, he commented: “We have to get it right and put it up against the right things on the BBC and elsewhere.”

The first two seasons of Victoria are out now on DVD on Amazon.
