Lily James joins new heist movie set during Covid-19 lockdown in London

An all-star cast has been announced for a pandemic-themed heist film.

Titled simply Lockdown, the new comedy-drama from the director of The Bourne Identity is currently filming in London.

Downton Abbey actress Lily James, who played Lady Rose in ITV’s hit series, will be joined by Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables), Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Lion King), Ben Stiller (Zoolander), Stephen Merchant (Extras), Dulé Hill (Suits), and Mark Gatiss (Sherlock).

The official synopsis reads: “Set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 lockdown, Lockdown tells the story of how sparring couple Linda (Hathaway) and Paxton (Ejiofor) call a truce to attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewellery heist at the world’s most exclusive department store, Harrods.”

The movie has been written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Lily James also leads the cast of Netflix’s new adaptation of Rebecca later this month.

It’s not yet been confirmed if she’ll be reprising the role of Lady Rose in the second Downton Abbey movie, which begins filming in 2021.
