PBS has released the first photo from the second season of Miss Scarlet and The Duke.
Miss Scarlet and The Duke stars English actress Kate Phillips (Wolf Hall, The Crown) as Eliza Scarlet, the fictional first ever female detective in 1800s London.
Kate Phillips (The Crown, Wolf Hall) and Stuart Martin (Jamestown) are both returning as Miss Scarlet and Inspector William “The Duke” Wellington.
Kate Phillips commented: “It’s like no time has passed at all. We’ve slipped right back into the same old Duke and Eliza dynamic. If anything, it feels richer and more playful than ever. I can’t wait for our Masterpiece audience to see it.”
Her co-star Stuart Martin added: “I’m beyond delighted to be back in Duke’s bowler hat and boots, swaggering the streets of London by Kate’s side.
“To return to this rich, wonderful world and the characters that Rachael has created, with this incredible team, it feels like we’re home.
“I can’t wait for our Masterpiece family and fans to see where Eliza and Duke go next, and who they bump into on the way.”
We’ve got a brand new official promotional photo for Season 2 here:
The official synopsis reads: “In Season 2, London’s first-ever female detective, Eliza Scarlet continues to grow her private detective firm with the somewhat reluctant help of her friend (or more-than-friend?) police detective William “The Duke” Wellington.”
Miss Scarlet and The Duke creator Rachael New has teased “even more action, adventure and of course a nice big dollop of romance” in the new episodes.
Executive producer Susanne Simpson previously commented: “Miss Scarlet and The Duke was an instant fan favorite. Our audience couldn’t resist its lighthearted tone and the appealing characters…”
Season 2 will premiere in 2022 on PBS in the US, and on Alibi in the UK.
Miss Scarlet and The Duke is available on DVD on Amazon.
