Netflix is working on a new ‘The Three Musketeers’ adaptation – with a twist!

The Three Musketeers are heading to Netflix.

The streaming service is developing a new version of the classic adventure tale with the makers of last year’s Will Smith movie Bright.

French author Alexandre Dumas’s novel was first published in 1844.

Numerous TV and movie and adaptations have been made over the years, most recently the BBC’s 2014-2016 series The Musketeers and a 3D movie in 2011.

The pitch for writer Harrison Query’s feature is “a modern take” on the story, which has been described as like “Mission: Impossible in tone.”

Set in 17th century France, The Three Musketeers tells the story of d’Artagnan, who wants to join a king’s guard known as the Musketeers. Rejected from joining, he instead meets renowned musketeers Athos, Porthos and Aramis.

The BBC’s The Musketeers series is available on DVD on Amazon.
