‘The Courier’ trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch stars in new 1960s Cold War thriller
Benedict Cumberbatch’s new spy movie The Courier is now available to watch online!
The Sherlock star plays a real-life Cold War spy in this new thriller set in the 1960s, from the director of On Chesil Beach and The Hollow Crown.
Previously titled Ironbark, The Courier tells the incredible true story of Greville Wynne, a British businessman who worked with the CIA to penetrate the Soviet nuclear program during the Cold War, providing information that helped end the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel), Jessie Buckley (Misbehaviour), Merab Ninidze (Without Remorse), Angus Wright (The Witches), and Kirill Pirogov (McMafia).

The Courier was released in cinemas in the US last month, and it’s now available to watch at home on demand here.
The movie will finally arrive in UK cinemas on Friday 13th August.
The official synopsis reads: “The Courier is a true-life spy thriller, the story of an unassuming British businessman Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) recruited into one of the greatest international conflicts in history.
“At the behest of the UK’s MI-6 and a CIA operative (Rachel Brosnahan), he forms a covert, dangerous partnership with Soviet officer Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze) in an effort to provide crucial top secret intelligence needed to prevent a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis.”
