‘The Durrells’ Season 4 will have fewer episodes than Season 3

There was good news for The Durrells fans last month when ITV confirmed that the show has been renewed for a fourth season.

The only bad news is that there won’t be as many episodes as there were this year.

Season 4 will consist of just six episodes.

The third season, which concluded on ITV last month, ran for eight episodes.

This is most likely due to the increasing difficulty of getting the cast together at the same time, with Josh O’Connor (Larry) joining Netflix’s The Crown as Prince Charles and Keeley Hawes (Louisa) filming a number of new TV dramas this year.

Based upon the classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs by conservationist Gerald Durrell, the hit family period drama series tells the story of Louisa Durrell, who decides to uproot her four spirited and unruly children to start a new life in Corfu in the 1930s.

Season 1 and Season 2 are available to buy on DVD now.

The third season of The Durrells in Corfu will air in the US later this year on PBS.
