Yes, that really is ‘Downton’ star Jim Carter in ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’
If you’ve recently been to see the new Transformers movie (God help you) and thought a certain voice sounded familiar, then you were probably correct.
Yes, Downton Abbey star Jim Carter – who played butler Mr Carson in all six seasons of the hit period drama – really is the voice of robot Cogman in Transformers: The Last Knight.
The fifth Transformers movie has been widely panned by critics, but Carter’s voice work as the faithful butler of Anthony Hopkins’ character Sir Edmund Burton has proved popular – and it seems like the opportunity to work with Hopkins was what drew the actor to accept the role.
Carter, who was present on set to record the voice role, has described the movie’s shoot as “like a box of fireworks going off” and “great fun.”
Asked if he’d be up for reprising the role in a sequel, Carter said: “Yeah, I’ll be there, absolutely, Cogman lives, he’s got to take over the world!”
Transformers: The Last Knight is in cinemas now.
