Top 25 most popular British TV period dramas of the past decade revealed

As we start the 2020s, it’s time to look back at the best British period dramas of the past ten years.

With epic romances like regal reenactments like The Crown and Victoria, country house tales like Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs, 1950s crime mysteries like Father Brown and Grantchester, epic romances like Outlander and Poldark, World War II dramas like World on Fire and Home Fires, sunny overseas excursions like The Durrells and Indian Summers, fantasy worlds like Game of Thrones and Penny Dreadful, gritty stories like Peaky Blinders and Harlots, female-led dramas like Land Girls and Call the Midwife, and retail therapy like Mr Selfridge and The Paradise, it’s been another wonderful decade on the small screen.

We recently asked fans to let us know which television shows from 2010-2019 they thought were the best!

Note: As there was a whole decade’s worth of dramas to choose from, we limited the shortlist to only include returning series which ran for at least two seasons and we’ve not included any one-off mini-series or TV movies.

With over 73,000 votes counted, we can now count down to reveal the most popular series!
