‘Downton Abbey’ star reveals her character has been cut from the movie!

There’s only a month or so to wait now until the Downton Abbey movie arrives.

Written by Downton creator Julian Fellowes, the big screen spin-off will reunite almost all the surviving characters from the hit period drama series.

However, one character won’t be making an appearance, it has emerged this week.

English actress Sue Johnston has revealed that her character Gladys Denker was originally set to appear in the movie.

However, the lady’s maid to Violet Crawley was then cut!

Johnston told Radio Times magazine: “Denker was the first in the script and then the script disappeared. Imagine how I felt!”

This is a shame as we always loved Denker’s hilarious rivalry with Spratt!

Hopefully Sue Johnston can return as Denker if the rumoured sequel happens.

The 75-year-old star is best known for her roles in The Royle Family, Waking the Dead and Brookside.

The Downton Abbey movie will be released in the UK on Friday 13th September and in the USA on Friday 20th September.

Actor Robert James-Collier, who plays under-butler Thomas Barrow, recently hinted that the film “ties up a lot of loose ends.”

Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection DVD box set is available on Amazon.
