Netflix orders new TV series ‘Cursed’ based on King Arthur legend

13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford will lead the cast of a new Netflix period drama series.

Based on their upcoming Young Adult book, due out next year, writer Tom Wheeler and illustrator Frank Miller are bringing Cursed to the small screen.

The series will be a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, telling the story of gifted teenage heroine Nimue (Katherine Langford), who is destined to become the famous Lady of the Lake.

Langford played Hannah Baker in the first two seasons of Netflix’s hit teen drama series 13 Reasons Why.

Netflix’s press release describes Cursed as “a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”

The Lady of the Lake has many roles in the various Arthurian legends, including raising Lancelot after the death of his father, giving King Arthur his sword Excalibur, and enchanting Merlin.

Cursed is expected to premiere on Netflix in late 2019.

Tom Wheeler and Frank Miller’s original book is available on Amazon.
