‘Poldark’ return date confirmed: When does Season 5 start?

It’s been announced when the new season of Poldark will begin.

Based on the series of historical novels by Winston Graham, the BBC’s hit Cornish period drama series launched in 2015 and comes to an end this summer.

Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson are back as Ross and Demelza Poldark for eight final episodes.

Season 5 will premiere at 9pm on Sunday 14th July on BBC One in the UK.

As the Poldarks look forward to life together in peace, a plea from Ross’s old Army Colonel, Ned Despard (Vincent Regan), compels him to the capital.

The new episodes will, for the first time, not be based on author Winston Graham’s books.

Instead, this season’s story will be set during the 10 year time gap that occurs between the seventh book, The Angry Tide, and the eighth, The Stranger from the Sea.

Season 5 will air in the USA later this year on PBS.

The first four seasons of Poldark are available on DVD on Amazon.
