The creator of The Durrells has good news for fans about the show’s future.
Set in Corfu in the 1930s, the series launched on ITV in the UK in April 2016 and premiered in the US in October 2016 on PBS with the extended title The Durrells in Corfu.
The family drama is based upon Gerald Durrell’s classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs, telling the story of Louisa Durrell, who decides to uproot her family from Bournemouth to start a new life in Corfu.
The Durrells writer Simon Nye confirmed at the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival that a third season will arrive in 2018 and promised “some exotic new animals” in next year’s new episodes, which will be set in 1937.
Season 2 premiered in the UK in April and will air on PBS later this year.
