Poll: Who was 2020’s best actor in a British period drama? Vote here!

As 2020 comes to a close, it’s time to look back at the most memorable performances from the past 12 months.

With most of us spending more time inside this year than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic, at least the year has still been packed with some wonderful British period dramas to watch.

On the big screen, where cinemas were open, highlights included George MacKay in 1917, Johnny Flynn in Emma, and Dev Patel in The Personal History of David Copperfield.

Meanwhile, on television we were introduced to Nicholas Ralph in All Creatures Great and Small, and Claes Bang in Dracula, plus established actors such as Iain Glen in The Windermere Children, John Boyega in Small Axe, Philip Glenister in Belgravia, and Theo James in Sanditon.

All these alongside returning stars like Sam Heughan in Outlander, Shaun Evans in Endeavour, Josh O’Connor in The Crown, Mark Williams in Father Brown, and Robson Green in Grantchester.

Now we want to know which of 2020’s performances you thought were the best!
