Focus Features has shared the new trailer to its upcoming sequel ‘Downton Abbey: The Grande Finale, which is due for release on Sept 12, 2025.
The third and final Downton Abbey film will be directed by Simon Curtis and written by Julian Fellowes, the creative force behind the original series. Production began in May 2024, and wrapped in August.

What is it about?
Set in the 1930s, Downton Abbey: The Grande Finale will bring the beloved Crawley family and their dedicated staff to their highly anticipated conclusion. This film aims to tie up loose ends and offer a heartfelt farewell to the series and trilogy that has captivated audiences for fifteen years, with many familiar faces returning for one last bow.
Will the cast return?
The core cast members are confirmed to return – Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera, and Douglas Reith.
Paul Giamatti and Dominic West will also return in the roles of Harold Levinson and Guy Dexter. New additional cast members announced include Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan.
