‘The Crown’ star leads 1950s drama ‘Mrs Harris Goes to Paris’ – watch the trailer!

The first trailer has been released for new movie Mrs Harris Goes to Paris.

Based on the 1958 novel by Paul Gallico, the upcoming British drama is set in 1950s France.

Leading the cast is Lesley Manville, best known for her roles in World on Fire, Cranford, Phantom Thread, and BritBox’s recent hit Magpie Murders.

The 66-year-old English actress is currently busy filming the next season of The Crown, in which she’ll be playing the new Princess Margaret.

Alongside Manville, Mrs Harris Goes to Paris also features Rose Williams (Sanditon), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), Christian McKay (Grantchester), Lucas Bravo (Emily in Paris), Ellen Thomas (EastEnders), Lambert Wilson (The Matrix), Alba Baptista (Warrior Nun), and French star Isabelle Huppert.

The official synopsis reads: “In partnership with the House of Dior, Mrs Harris Goes to Paris tells the story of a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London who falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress and decides that she must have one of her own.

“After she works, starves and gambles to raise the funds to pursue her dream, she embarks on an adventure to Paris which will change not only her own outlook, but the very future of the House of Dior.”

Mrs Harris Goes to Paris will be released in the US on Friday 15th July.

The movie will arrive in UK cinemas this autumn on Friday 30th September.

Lesley Manville’s Magpie Murders is available to watch on BritBox UK now, ahead of its PBS premiere later this year.
