Preview: The Forsytes on Masterpiece PBS

Starting this week, The Forsytes makes its highly anticipated debut on Masterpiece – bringing to life the iconic story of the Forsyte family and their dramatic journey through early 20th-century England. Adapted from John Galsworthy’s beloved novels, this compelling new series follows the lives, loves, and betrayals of the wealthy, ambitious Forsytes, whose societal influence is marred by scandal and heartbreak.

The Forsyte Saga is not new to the small screen, having already captured the world’s attention with the legendary 1967 BBC serial starring Kenneth More. Later, in 2002, ITV produced a popular adaptation that featured Damian Lewis, Rupert Graves, and Gina McKee.

Who is in the cast?

The strong ensemble cast includes Francesca Annis as matriarch Ann Forsyte, with Jack Davenport (James Forsyte), Joshua Orpin (Soames Forsyte), Millie Gibson (Irene), Jamie Flatters (Philip Bosinney), Tom Durant Pritchard (Monty Dartie,  Susan Hampshire (Lady Carteret), Stephen Moyer, Tuppence Middleton (Frances), and Eleanor Tomlinson (Louisa Byrne).
