‘Father Brown’ Season 8 Episode 4 recap: What happened in ‘The Wisdom of the Fool’?
The eighth season of Father Brown continued in the UK today.
Based on the stories by GK Chesterton, the popular daytime crime drama is back with ten brand new episodes.
Set in the Cotswolds during the early 1950s, Father Brown stars Mark Williams (Harry Potter) as the titular clerical sleuth.
Here’s a plot recap for Season 8’s fourth episode, ‘The Wisdom of the Fool’, which aired at 2.15pm on Thursday 9th January 2020 on BBC One:
When a convention of jesters, including Sir Toby and Edith Dobson (Neil Pearson and Emily Joyce), son Fred (Alexander Morris) and Doodle (Natey Jones), arrive in Kembleford to entertain the crowds, the merriment is brought to a halt when Dr Belmont (Annabel Cleare) collapses and dies in front of a crowd of shocked spectators.
Father Brown (Mark Williams) suspects foul play and begins to investigate the circumstances of her death, along with Bunty (Emer Kenny).
Meanwhile another jester, Mr Feste (Paul Copley), has taken a shine to Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack) but is stopped in his tracks when confronted by Father Brown and Bunty.
He admits to killing Dr Belmont and begs Father Brown to let him confess his sins.
However, he is murdered in the confessional before he can.
Did Mr Feste act alone when he killed Dr Belmont, and who in turn killed him? Father Brown must find out.
