‘Downton Abbey’ movie release date announced!

It’s finally been confirmed when the Downton Abbey movie will arrive in cinemas.

Continuing the story from ITV’s period drama series, the long-awaited big screen spin-off began filming last week.

The movie, which doesn’t yet have an official title, will be released in the USA on Friday 20th September 2019.

That’s exactly one year from today!

Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski commented: “Since the series ended, fans of Downton have long been waiting for the Crawley family’s next chapter.

“We’re thrilled to join this incredible group of filmmakers, actors and craftspeople, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, in bringing back the world of Downton to the big screen next September.”

The movie’s script is written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.

Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection is available to buy now.

The entire main cast of the TV series is expected to return in the new movie, apart from Mamma Mia! 2 star Lily James, who played Lady Rose.
