‘Poldark’ could end after fourth season, writer reveals

The writer of the BBC’s Poldark has revealed that there are currently no firm plans for a fifth season of the hit period drama.

The third season of Poldark is currently airing on BBC One in the UK and will premiere in the US this October.

It’s already been confirmed that a fourth season based on Winston Graham’s novels will arrive in 2018.

However, the show’s future beyond that remains up in the air.

Showrunner Debbie Horsfield admitted: “We don’t know how popular it’s going to be; whether it’ll continue to be popular, whether we’ll be asked to do more.”

Producer Karen Thrussell added: “So at the moment, obviously, we’re working on [Season 4], and then if [Season 5] goes ahead…”

Horsfield continued: “We’ll have to consider what will be in that [season].”

Poldark star Aidan Turner begins filming new movie The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot in the US in August.
