‘Sanditon’ makers will ‘keep doing everything we can to make Season 2 happen’
The producers of Sanditon haven’t given up hope on a second season.
Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, the period drama began in the UK last August and the series aired in the US on PBS earlier this year.
Unfortunately, it didn’t attract enough viewers in the UK for ITV to order more episodes and PBS confirmed in February that “there are no plans for another season.”
However, Sanditon fans have shown an incredible amount of support for the show.
A petition demanding a second season has now reached almost 50,000 signatures and the makers have received a huge volume of letters and cards from loyal viewers.
Responding to this show of support from fans, the production team wrote on their official Twitter account: “We’ll keep doing everything we can to make a S2 happen.”
The makers of Sanditon also promised: “Red Planet Pictures would love to make another series and whilst there are no plans at present, if that changes, you’ll be the first to know.”
In the meantime, here’s a list all the other British period drama series arriving this year.
Sanditon is available on DVD on Amazon.
