ITV has released a clip featuring a sneak peek at the return of Lord M in the new season of Victoria.
Rufus Sewell is reprising his role as the Queen’s former Prime Minister and confidante, Melbourne.
Currently starring in Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, the 49-year-old English actor commented: “One of the things that appealed about the role [in Victoria] originally was that it was finite; a lovely contained story with a beginning middle and end.
“I really didn’t want Melbourne to be hanging around beyond the natural span of his story. All the same, I knew that if all went well, I’d probably regret leaving when it came to it and it turned out I was right.
“When the producers came to me with a way to bring him back in Season 2 that was still true to the story, I was only too happy to come back.”

Starring Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) and Tom Hughes (The Game) as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Victoria continues on Sunday night on ITV in the UK with ‘The Green-Eyed Monster’.
The first season of Victoria is available now on DVD.
Season 2 will air in the US on Masterpiece on PBS from January 2018.
