‘Young Sherlock’ future confirmed: Will there be a second season?

Prime Video has officially announced that Young Sherlock will be returning with more episodes!

Pitched as “an irreverent, action-packed mystery that charts the legendary origin story of the world’s greatest detective,” the fun new series premiered last month.

Young Sherlock has that rare magic – millions of fans around the world aren’t just watching a detective story, they’re falling in love with the origin of an icon,” commented Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Global Television, Peter Friedlander.

“[Executive producer] Guy Ritchie and [showrunner] Matthew Parkhill have cracked the code on making Sherlock’s early years feel fresh, dangerous, and utterly addictive, and have introduced a compelling take on James Moriarty that sets the stage for what’s to come,” he added. “We can’t wait to see where they take him next in Season Two.”

Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Harry Potter) is expected to return as the title character, alongside Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time) as James Moriarty.

Season 1’s cast also included Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem), and Max Irons (Condor).

Young Sherlock reached an impressive 45 million viewers in its first 28 days of release.

The series hit Prime Video’s number 1 spot in over 95 countries worldwide, and now ranks among the top 10 Prime Original Seasons all-time.

Season 2 is expected to begin filming later this year, with Guy Ritchie back to direct the opening instalment.

We’re hoping to see brand new episodes Young Sherlock premiere in mid-2027.

Until then, all eight episodes of the first season are currently available to watch around the world on Prime Video.
