Netflix has released the first official trailer for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, the upcoming new film written and directed by Greta Gerwig (Little Women, Barbie).

The film is based on 1955 novel by C.S. Lewis and explores the origins of Narnia, taking audiences back to the creation of the magical world made famous by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The story centres on two children, Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, who are played by newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell. Their discovery of magical rings belonging to Digory’s eccentric Uncle Andrew leads them on an extraordinary adventure through different worlds.

Who is in the cast?

Daniel Craig stars as Uncle Andrew, alongside Emma Mackey as Jadis, the future White Witch, and Carey Mulligan as Digory’s mother. Meryl Streep provides the voice of Aslan, the great lion whose song brings Narnia into existence.

The trailer offers a first glimpse of Gerwig’s imaginative interpretation of Lewis’s world, including the mysterious Wood Between the Worlds, the formidable Jadis and the creation of Narnia itself. The footage is accompanied by Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.
