Death in Paradise Christmas Special Preview

It is nearly time for the Death in Paradise Christmas Special!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year as we return to the idyllic island of Saint Marie, where we can catch up with the police team and a new Detective Inspector for a feature-length Death in Paradise Christmas special. 

Who is in the cast?

Production on the Christmas special and new series took place in Guadeloupe, which will also see returning cast regulars Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, Élizabeth Bourgine and Danny John-Jules all back on board. Guest stars Angela Griffin, Elizabeth Carling, Marcus Brigstock, Jim Howick and Steven Hartley will also join for the Christmas Special episode.

What is it about? 

When British tourist Stuart Fullwell (Marcus Brigstocke), fresh from a festive karaoke performance dressed as Santa, is found dead on the beach by a young boy Ollie – son of Jamie (Jim Howick) – the Saint Marie police team are called to action. However, the team is ill-equipped to handle a murder investigation as there is no Detective Inspector appointed in place of the recently departed Neville Parker. 

In the face of mounting pressure, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) finds out that there is a British detective currently visiting Saint Marie. A less than enthusiastic DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) is just about to depart to London after an underwhelming holiday, when he is informed by his boss that he needs to stay on Saint Marie – whether he likes it or not… 

When can we watch it?

The Death in Paradise Christmas special 2024 will air on Sunday, December 22nd at 8.30 pm on BBC One. It will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

It will then become available on BritBox in the US on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2024. In Australia, the Death in Paradise Christmas special lands on Britbox on Monday, December 23.
