Maggie Smith stars in charming festive movie ‘A Boy Called Christmas’ – watch the trailer!

A new trailer has been unveiled for Maggie Smith’s A Boy Called Christmas.

Based on Matt Haig’s children’s book, the upcoming festive movie has been brought to the screen by The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again writer Ol Parker.

A Boy Called Christmas tells the story of an ordinary young boy called Nikolas who sets out on an extraordinary adventure into the snowy north in search of his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of the elves, Elfhelm.

Taking with him a headstrong reindeer called Blitzen and a loyal pet mouse, Nikolas soon meets his destiny in this magical, comic and endearing story that proves nothing is impossible…

A Boy Called Christmas was filmed in 2019 in Lapland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and London.

The all-star ensemble cast includes Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Sally Hawkins (Paddington), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Michiel Huisman (The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society), Zoe Colletti (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), Stephen Merchant (Jojo Rabbit), Indica Watson (Gold Digger), Jim Broadbent (The Iron Lady), and Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), with newcomer Henry Lawfull as Nikolas.

A Boy Called Christmas will be released in UK cinemas, on streaming service NOW TV, and on Sky Cinema on Friday 26th November.

It’ll be available to watch in the US and worldwide on Netflix from Wednesday 24th November.

There are five books in Matt Haig’s series, so if the movie is a success then this could become an annual treat for many years to come!

The second Downton Abbey movie began filming earlier this year, although it’s still uncertain if Maggie Smith will be back.

Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection box set is available on DVD on Amazon.
