‘Age Before Beauty’ Season 2: Bad news for fans of ‘Poldark’ writer’s salon drama
The creator of Poldark has confirmed the fate of Age Before Beauty.
Set in a Manchester beauty salon, the BBC One drama series launched in July 2018 and was created by Poldark writer Debbie Horsefield.
Age Before Beauty was described as “an exploration of youth, age, instant gratification and long-term relationships set within the beauty industry.”
The six-part family saga starred Robson Green (Granchester), Sue Johnston (Downton Abbey), Polly Walker (Mr Selfridge) and James Murray (Him).
No official news of the show’s cancellation had been made by the BBC, but showrunner Debbie Horsefield has now revealed that Age Before Beauty won’t be returning for a second season.
She told Radio Times: “I’m doing other things for the BBC but not Age Before Beauty. [The BBC] wanted us to go on to do other things, which I am.”
Horsfield is rumoured to be reuniting with Poldark production company Mammoth Screen to make a brand new TV adaptation of Alexander Dumas’ novel The Count of Monte Cristo.
Robson Green is currently starring in the fourth season of Grantchester on Friday nights on ITV in the UK.
Poldark return for a fifth and final season this summer.
The first four seasons of Poldark are available on DVD on Amazon.
