PBS confirms ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ start date for Season 2

The new season of All Creatures Great and Small will premiere in the US in 2022!

Based on author James Herriot’s much-loved collection of stories, the popular period drama series debuted on PBS earlier this year.

All Creatures Great and Small chronicles the heartwarming and humorous adventures of a young country vet in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s.

A second season of six episodes recently launched in the UK on Channel 5.

All the main cast are returning, including Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, Samuel West (Mr. Selfridge) as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley (Deadwater Fell) Mrs Hall, Callum Woodhouse (The Durrells) as Tristan Farnon, and Rachel Shenton (White Gold) as Helen Alderson.

The official synopsis reads: “Three months have passed since the events of Season 1. A trip back home to Glasgow presents James with a dilemma that will mean choosing between the people he loves.

“As Helen and James navigate their feelings for one another, Siegfried, Tristan, and Mrs Hall are also forced to consider their places in the world, while James must ultimately decide between duty and love.”

Season 2 will premiere in the US at 9/8c on Sunday 9th January 2022 on Masterpiece on PBS.

All Creatures Great and Small writer Ben Vanstone recently revealed that “there’s plenty more to come” for the show.

A third season is due to begin filming in Yorkshire, England early next year.

Very excitingly, Vanstone is planning for plenty more All Creatures Great and Small beyond that!

He explained: “I think that when we started the show, we had in mind arcs for these characters that took them across a number of series and initially, it was kind of four series. But everything in this show plays out slower than you think it would.”

All Creatures Great and Small is available on DVD on Amazon.
