Apple TV has shared preview images for the upcoming Saoirse Ronan WWII drama ‘Blitz’

Apple TV has shared first-look images for the upcoming WWII drama Blitz from  Shame and 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen.

What is it about?

Blitz is the story of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him away from the air raids in London to live in safety in the English countryside. However,  George misses his mother and grandfather (Paul Weller) and defiantly runs away from his new surroundings to go back to his home in East London. George soon finds himself in great danger while his mother desperately tries to find her son.

Who is in the cast?

 Academy and BAFTA Award nominee Saoirse Ronan is joined by newcomer Elliot Heffernan, Harris Dickinson (Where the Crawdads sing), Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke (Elizabeth), Paul Weller, Stephen Graham (Peaky Blinders), Leigh Gill (Joker), Mica Ricketts (Best Interests), CJ Beckford (Riches), Alex Jennings (The Lady in the Van), Joshua McGuire (The Hour), Hayley Squires (The Essex Serpent), Erin Kellyman (Willow) and Sally Messham (Aftersun).

Who is behind it?

Blitz was written and directed by Academy and BAFTA Award-winning McQueen (12 Years a Slave). McQueen’s production company Lammas Park worked together with the production companies Working Title and New Regency on the project.

When will it be released?

Blitz will have its world premiere at the 68th BFI London Film Festival on October 9, 2024. It will then be released on Apple TV + on November 22, 2004.
