‘Bridgerton’ boss reveals exciting update on Season 2

The new season of Bridgerton has finished filming!

Based on the bestselling novels by Julia Quinn, Netflix’s hit romance series launched last Christmas.

The period drama follows eight close-knit siblings as they look for love and happiness in Regency London high society in early 1800s England.

Bridgerton reached the Number 1 spot as the most-viewed series on Netflix upon its release in December 2020 and received positive reviews from critics.

Inevitably, it was very swiftly renewed by the streaming service in January.

Filming on the brand new episodes began in England this summer.

Despite some Covid-related delays and production breaks, it’s now been officially confirmed that Season 2’s shoot is complete!

Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen posted on Twitter: “That’s a wrap on Season Two! So proud of this cast and crew who brought their A-games to work each and every day in this very challenging year.”

The showrunner also shared a triumphant photo of himself with returning star Jonathan Bailey and Bridgerton newcomer Simone Ashley:

He commented: “And these two in this photo with me right here. Words are not enough. Coming in 🔥🔥 in 2022. 🎩🐝🎬 #Bridgerton #SeasonTwo #BuckleUp”

Some hints for Season 2 were previously revealed in the form of a fun statement from Lady Whistledown herself: “The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season.

“I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.

“This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen to report on any and all of his romantic activities.

“However, gentle reader, before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time. Patience, after all, is a virtue.”

A brief scene from Season 2 was released online by Netflix in September.

Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen hinted earlier this year: “Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”

The new season will focus on the efforts of Anthony Bridgerton, played Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch), to find himself a wife.

Also reprising their roles are Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bassett (née Bridgerton), Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, Polly Walker as Portia Featherington, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Harriet Cains as Philippa Featherington, Bessie Carter as Prudence Featherington, and Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown.

The second season of Bridgerton is expected to premiere on Netflix in early 2022.
