‘Call the Midwife’ star reveals what she thinks Jenny Lee has been doing since leaving
Jessica Raine has speculated about what her Call the Midwife character has been up to since departing Nonnatus House.
The 35-year-old actress led the original cast of the BBC’s hit period drama as midwife Jenny Lee, before leaving at the end of third season.
Asked by presenter Matt Baker on The One Show what she thought Jenny was doing now, Raine joked: “She cycled off into the sunset, didn’t she? She was going into palliative care, which would have been a great, jolly storyline.”
She added, more seriously: “I’d hope she’d be happily married and getting along with her job.”
Raine recently admitted that she doesn’t watch the show anymore.
A seventh season of Call the Midwife began filming earlier this year and will air in 2018.
Season 6 is available to buy now on DVD.
Jessica Raine has been back on BBC One this autumn in The Last Post, from the creator of Silk and The Village. Set in 1965 in the shimmering heat of Aden in Yemen, the new period drama series follows a unit of Royal Military Police officers and their families.
