Sir Cliff Richard announces TV special on BBC this Christmas
The BBC has revealed details of a brand new Christmas special for Sir Cliff Richard.
Airing this festive season on BBC Two, Cliff at Christmas will feature the multi award winning singer discussing his career with presenter Sara Cox.
The interview was filmed at at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios, famously known as the creative base for The Beatles in the 1960s.
Cliff Richard will also be performing some of his Christmas classics, new songs and most-loved hits on location at St. John-at-Hackney Church.
We’re told that some of these performances will be collaborations, but we’ll have to wait and see who he’ll be singing with!
Cliff commented: “I remember, as though it was yesterday, the three series (each containing 13 shows) that I did for the BBC in the 70’s. I loved every moment of them!
“Now I’m really looking forward to the Christmas show that they have asked me to present, with the aid of some friends, this December 2022.”
The 82-year-old star added: “My Christmas wish? That you will enjoy our show. Christmas greetings to you all.”
Cliff at Christmas will premiere in the UK this December on BBC Two and streaming on BBC iPlayer.
We’re not yet sure if it’ll be shown in the US, but we’ll let you know if a broadcaster is announced.
The BBC’s Director Unscripted Content, Kate Phillips commented: “We are enormously excited to welcome Sir Cliff Richard to the BBC this Christmas, with his inimitable voice and charm there’s no one better to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.”
The one-hour show will celebrate Sir Cliff Richard’s 64 year career, which boasts the incredible feat of more than 130 of his singles, albums and EP’s reaching the UK top 20.
One of the best-selling music artists of all time, he set a new all-time Official Chart record in 2020 by becoming the first artist ever to score a Top 5 album in eight consecutive decades.
