Costumes from ‘The Favourite’ are going on display at Hampton Court Palace

Fans of The Favourite can take a look at the movie’s exquisite costumes up close this winter.

Set in the early 18th century, the acclaimed period drama stars Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) as Queen Anne, who was the Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland from 1702 to 1707.

Colman and her co-stars Emma Stone (La La Land) and Rachel Weisz (My Cousin Rachel) have all been nominated for Oscars for their roles in The Favourite.

Celebrating the movie’s huge success, Hampton Court Palace is displaying an exhibition of costumes created for Colman, Stone and Weisz.

Key scenes from The Favourite were shot around the Palace in 2017, including The Cartoon Gallery, Fountain Court, and Henry VIII’s Kitchens.

As well as the costumes exhibition, a palace admission ticket also includes access to these historic locations.

The movie’s costumes were designed by Oscar winning costume designer Sandy Powell, who took inspiration from 18th century silhouettes.

Items on display in the Cartoon Gallery include Rachel Weisz’s stunning black ballgown and her riding outfit, Abigail’s lady in waiting dress and her denim maid’s outfit, and Queen Anne’s nightgown.

The exhibition is on display until 10th March 2019 and tickets are available on the Hampton Court Palace website.
