David Suchet ‘would love to do’ a big screen ‘Poirot’ movie
Poirot fans thought they’d seen the last of David Suchet in the role, but they may be in luck.
The 73-year-old English actor appeared in 70 episodes of ITV’s Agatha Christie’s Poirot series, the last of which aired in 2013.
Running for thirteen seasons, the series ran for 24 years and adapted all of Agatha Christie’s novels and short stories featuring Hercule Poirot.
The character returned to TV screens last Christmas with a new three-part adaptation of The ABC Murders, starring John Malkovich as the Belgian detective.
Speaking to This Morning recently about the possibility of reprising the role of Poirot, Suchet sounded keen – but on one condition.
He revealed: “I’d do the movie, but I wouldn’t do another television, but I’d do the movie. I’d love to do that.”
We’d certainly love that too!
The current cinematic Poirot, Kenneth Branagh, will return next year in a sequel to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express.
Death on the Nile is set for release in October 2020 and the movie has already lined up quite a cast.
