Tom Branson gets the ‘ending he deserved’ in ‘Downton Abbey’ movie

We know almost nothing about the plot of the upcoming Downton Abbey movie…

But it looks like at least one character will definitely be getting a happy ending!

Downton Abbey star Allen Leech, who played Tom Branson in all six seasons of the hit period drama series, has revealed that he wasn’t satisfied with the conclusion of his character’s story in 2015’s season finale.

Fortunately, the 37-year-old Irish actor has good news for Tom fans.

Leech told Hello! magazine: “When you think you have said goodbye to a character, to be able to go back is a gift. I felt, and I think a lot of the fans felt, that Tom never got the ending he deserved.

“I am happy to say I think he does in this.”

He explained: “Julian [Fellowes] has given Tom such a lovely storyline that it does feel that, if this is when we finally say goodbye, this is the way to say it.”

The movie’s story begins in 1927, around 18 months after the events of the show’s final episode.

Leech also discussed how he felt about reuniting with his former co-stars: “It was like a family reunion and I wish it could have gone on longer.”

Original Downton star Dan Stevens has responded to those rumours that Matthew Crawley might be returning in the film.

The Downton Abbey movie will be released on Friday 13th September in the UK and on Friday 20th September in the USA.
