‘Downton Abbey’ star is returning to ‘Cold Feet’ for Season 8

The new season of Cold Feet is filming now in Manchester and it’s been confirmed that Downton Abbey star Siobhan Finneran will be back.

The BAFTA-nominated Happy Valley actress, best known for playing O’Brien in the first three seasons of Downton Abbey, joined the cast in Season 7 as David’s new love interest, Nikki Kirkbright.

Starring James Nesbitt (The Missing), Helen Baxendale (Friends) and Hermione Norris (The Crimson Field), Cold Feet originally aired from 1997 to 2003 and returned to British screens in 2016 following a thirteen-year absence.

Another six new episodes of the romantic comedy-drama were commissioned by ITV last year.

Cold Feet writer Mike Bullen commented: “It’s great to be back in Manchester at the start of another shoot. We’ve still got so many stories to tell for these characters and I’m delighted that we’re being given the opportunity to tell them. As usual, we’ll be aiming for the viewers’ funny bones and tear ducts.”

The Durrells star Callum Woodhouse will also be back as Josh Marsden.

The new season finds Adam back on the singles market; but for once in his life he’s not finding any takers – has he finally lost his mojo? Pete on the other hand appears to have found his and with mature student Jenny top of the class, the Giffords are in a good place, aren’t they? As Karen’s daughters turn eighteen fiercely independent Karen is left wondering whether her business will be enough to fulfil her in her later years. Meanwhile ex-husband, David looks set to become a kept man, if his pride will let him.

The first six seasons of Cold Feet are available to buy now on DVD.

Season 8 will air on ITV in the UK this autumn.
