The Eurovision Song Contest is a real international song competition that has aired in Europe every year since 1956, until this year when the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The contest is an annual treasure in the UK, both loved and fondly ridiculed by viewers in equal measure.

Alongside Ferrell and McAdams, who are playing a fictional Icelandic duo entering the competition, the new comedy movie also stars Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens as their hunky Russian rival, Alexander Lemtov.
