Gillian Anderson will star in new World War II movie ‘White Bird’

The Crown star Gillian Anderson is leading the cast of a new film set during the Second World War.

Monster’s Ball director Marc Forster is making a new movie as a companion to 2017’s inspiring drama Wonder.

White Bird: A Wonder Story charts the story of a young Jewish girl hidden away by a boy and his family in Nazi-occupied France during World War II, reports Deadline.

Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) will play Vivienne, “the woman who along with her family must make unimaginable choices.”

The 52-year-old London-based actress recently received Golden Globe and SAG nominations for her role as Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of Netflix’s The Crown.

Based on R.J. Palacio’s graphic novel, the movie’s screenplay has been adapted by Mark Bomback (War For The Planet of the Apes).

Palacio’s Sydney Taylor Book Award-winning graphic novel is described as “a story of the power of kindness and unrelenting courage in a time of war.”

White Bird: A Wonder Story will begin filming in the Czech Republic this month.

Wonder is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
