‘Grantchester’ actor stars in new BBC drama from ‘Poldark’ writer – watch the trailer!
A new BBC drama from the showrunner of Poldark begins in the UK tonight, set in a Manchester beauty salon.
Created by Poldark writer Debbie Horsefield, Age Before Beauty is described as “an exploration of youth, age, instant gratification and long-term relationships set within the beauty industry.”
Horsefield commented: “It’s been fun to return to the world of contemporary Manchester after being immersed in 18th century Cornwall for the past few years, but in truth I’ve loved both worlds and would happily return to either and both!”
The six-part family saga stars Robson Green (Granchester), Sue Johnston (Downton Abbey), Polly Walker (Mr Selfridge) and James Murray (Him).

Age Before Beauty begins at 9pm tonight on BBC One.
The official synopsis reads: “Married to Wesley (James Murray) for 25 years, Bel (Polly Walker) has spent the last 18 years as a homemaker and mum to their twins – but having just waved them off to university, now has a void in her life.
“Enter Teddy (Robson Green), brother-in-law and long-time best friend, begging her to step in and rescue the family business – a down-at-heel beauty salon in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.”
Robson Green is currently filming the fourth season of Grantchester.
Grantchester Season 3 is available now to buy on DVD.
Poldark will return for a fifth – and possibly final – season next year.
