Jessica Raine says she doesn’t watch ‘Call the Midwife’ anymore

Former Call the Midwife star Jessica Raine has admitted that she doesn’t watch the show now.

The 35-year-old actress led the original cast of the BBC’s hit period drama as midwife Jenny Lee, before leaving at the end of third season.

Asked by presenter Matt Baker on The One Show if she’d continued watch since her departure, Raine shocked the audience, saying: “I don’t watch it anymore!”

However, she did reveal that she’s still friends with some of her former co-stars: “I’m in touch with lovely Helen [George], and Bryony [Hannah], because we’re a good threesome.”

A seventh season of Call the Midwife began filming earlier this year and will air in 2018.

Season 6 is available to buy now on DVD.

Jessica Raine can currently be seen in BBC One’s new period drama, The Last Post, from the creator of Silk and The Village. Set in 1965 in the shimmering heat of Aden in Yemen, the series follows a unit of Royal Military Police officers and their families.
