Joanne Froggatt reveals if Anna will be back in ‘Downton Abbey’ sequel
Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt has some promising news for fans.
The 39-year-old English actress reprised her role as Anna Bates in the Downton movie last year.
She had previously played the character in every episode of ITV’s hit period drama series, which aired from 2010 to 2015.
A second Downton Abbey movie is now officially in development and set for release in 2021 or 2022.
While appearing on This Morning to discuss the new season of Liar, which began last week on ITV, Joanne Froggatt was asked whether she’ll be returning in the upcoming Downton sequel.
Froggatt told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I think I could be persuaded! Of course I’d love to do it again.”
She explained: “You know, it’s just so lovely to get to go back and work with a group of friends and we’ve worked together for over a decade now and you guys know what that is like! It’s lovely to have those that bond with your work colleagues. It’s just like going back to school after the summer holidays.”
As for the current production status of the next Downton Abbey movie, Froggatt appears to be sworn to secrecy.
She commented: “I have nothing else to say about that at the moment. But we have nothing concrete, there’s no script yet. But, there is talk about it so fingers crossed.”
Joanne Froggatt also recently confirmed if Liar will be back for a third season.
The Downton Abbey movie is available on DVD on Amazon.
